About the studio
Based in Portugal, Soft Lines Design Studio designs spaces that breathe. Our approach draws on Japandi's quiet minimalism — natural materials, restrained palettes, purposeful space — layered with the confidence of contemporary design. Every project starts with how you live, not just how a room looks. The result: interiors that feel calm on arrival and only get better with time, built for real life in the Portuguese light.
Meet the designer
I'm Galyna Rufino, the designer behind Soft Lines. I trained at Interior Design Institute and have lived across Ireland, the UK, Portugal, France and Ukraine — which is also why I work comfortably with clients in English, Portuguese, French and Ukrainian. I work directly with each client from first conversation to final styling — kids rooms, garages, small flats, rentals — spaces that don't need an architect and six months, just someone who pays attention.

Japandi blends Japanese functional simplicity — wabi-sabi, the beauty of the imperfect and the unfinished — with Scandinavian warmth and hygge. Neutral earth tones, honest natural wood and clean lines create rooms that feel quiet without feeling empty.

Built around light, comfort and a close relationship with nature. Pale woods, white and off-white tones and generous cozy textiles keep long winters gentle, while restrained forms let daylight do most of the decorating.

A disciplined less-is-more approach: stark clean lines, basic geometric forms and uncluttered space. Every object earns its place, so proportion, material quality and shadow become the decoration.

Inspired by old urban factories and warehouses, this style celebrates raw elements — exposed brick, visible pipework, steel frames and concrete. Left honest rather than hidden, they give a room scale, texture and character.

Retro 1950s and 1960s shapes: warm walnut and teak, organic curves, tapered legs and furniture designed to be genuinely functional. Confident colour accents keep it playful rather than nostalgic.

Free-spirited, creative and deeply personal. Bold patterns, layered global textiles, rattan, ceramics and plenty of plants come together in a room that looks collected over years rather than bought in an afternoon.

Relaxed coastal living in sun-washed earthy colour: lime-washed textured walls, terracotta tile, arches and olive greens. Cool surfaces and warm light make interiors feel effortlessly open to the outdoors.

A reflection of current design thinking rather than a fixed era. Smooth, sleek and evolving — soft silhouettes, considered lighting and a calm palette, with a piece of art or a curve carrying the personality.

Inspired by country houses and farm buildings. Heavy timber, stone and rugged natural elements, softened by chunky wool and linen — a style that ages well and feels immediately grounding.

Timeless European elegance: symmetry, balanced proportion and finely judged detail — panelling, mouldings, considered upholstery. Never loud, always composed, and remarkably resistant to trends.
